One step at a time
A non-woven sack manufacturing company near Asansol, West Bengal was spending considerable time and manpower lifting material to its mezzanine floor. The process was slow, labour-intensive and difficult to manage safely — a common challenge for MSME factories still relying heavily on manual labour, where jumping straight to expensive electric stackers, forklifts or fully automated systems isn't always practical.
Rather than pushing for an expensive or complicated system, we looked for the simplest first step towards mechanised material handling — one the existing team could adopt immediately, without disrupting the factory.
A semi-electric stacker paired with a specially designed cage pallet: a simple, budget-friendly solution that slotted straight into the existing process.
Material handling time reduced by approximately 30%. Dependence on manual labour dropped, movement became smoother, and the operation became safer and more organised. More importantly, this was only the start — the customer's business has since grown nearly 4x, and Balvika has added equipment alongside them as their needs grew. Automation doesn't have to begin with a large investment; it can begin with one process at a time.
